Looking to get into the field of either Medical or Legal transcription, but I can't choose which one.
Can any give me any insight or ideas to consider or think about, as far as which one may or may not be better to go into?
I am looking to work at home doing this as well if that helps you understand where I'm at with this.

Realize that for either, you aren’t likely to be able to work at home until you have several years of experience in an office or medical facility, and even then would have a hard time finding work at home except for someone you already worked for in their facility.
Please do your research before you choose any of these careers. Medical and legal transcription are NOT what the schools advertise. They always promise you that it is a career you can do at home and make a ton of cash doing it.
The truth is this: I had an aunt that became a medical transcriber because she needed to work from home. Once she got her certificate or whatever they call it, she had to search for her own business for weeks. She went from private office to private office offering her services, but she found that the school she went to stretched the truth. Most of the clinics had their own in-house transcribers. She was finally able to sign on two clinics. It took her a lot of hard work to make any money. She was paid on volume. When one of the clinics expanded, she had to hire on family members just to make a living. It was not the glamorous “work a few hours a day” type of job. She was eventually able to get a position at a hospital as a transcriber, but it was something that she regretted.
I also agree with everything Judy has to say. These “working from home” schemes are never what they appear to be. Make sure you find an actual transcriber that has made a lucrative career at home and talk to them for the REAL story.
