I am a relatively new freelance medical transcriptionist living in Ontario, Canada. I have a full-time job and also some legal transcription experience.
I was just wondering what an average/fair rate to charge an independent occupational therapist is. Right now I have one OT as a client, who I charge $7.50 per report (ranging from 17- 30 audio minutes) only because he was my very first transcription client. I’ve done this now for about 9 months now and am ready to move on by raising my rate and/or seeking higher paying clients.
Also, how do I go about soliciting other independent OTs?
Thanks.

You can advertise your medical transcription service on the website below. Prices range from free to about $24. a month.
first, you are not charging enough … think more 20 dollars per hour minimum and that is if it is all digital and no printing on your part … you could look in your local phone book or online and get the names and addresses of all the independent OT’s in the area and do a mail out of a pamphlet with what you offer, charge, etc. … i started my transcription business this way … i included a coupon for 10 percent off for new clients for the first job … i also advertised on craigslist but got more clients from the mail out …
